I can relate so much to Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken". I myself find the interest of the road not commonly taken. Have you started down a road, where you could make one choice, but decided on the other? Did you have a a struggle or did it prove to be the best choice? I feel this is part of living. Some feel that life is predetermined. To each their own understanding, the choices we make will have an outcome. It is up to your path, your decisons, your ..road not taken.
I believe that we are predetermined to learn certain lessons in life and we cannot go to the next step in our life until we have learned it. That is why so many times we seem to repeat the same mishaps over and over. I have heard so many girls say. I just keep dating losers or bad guys. I don't know why. That is because they are not learning their lesson that they are suppose to be and until they open their eyes and see it they will keep dating the same type guys. It may be a simple lesson of not judging a book by its cover. They are dating the guy that they find irresistible and should be looking beneath the outer covering.
ReplyDeleteI always tell people who say, "I don't know why this keeps happening to me," that they need to handle the situation different and look for what they are suppose to be learning. If not they will keep repeating the same mistakes.
It doesn’t help to go down the wrong road if you just keep following hoping it will finally fork off into the right path. You have to turn around and take the long dreaded walk backward to where you began and start over.
I can relate with making choices. The theme of choosing the road less taken is very appealing to me as I have done that once or twice. I agree that you have to take responsability and ownership of your choices. I have made bad ones but mostly good ones. Like you,I enjoyed this poem.
